What Types of Storm Damage Do We Repair?

At Westfall Roofing, we’ve encountered and successfully repaired every type of storm damage imaginable throughout our three decades of roofing service in Central and Southwest Florida. Our roofers are here to ensure your home is protected no matter what Mother Nature throws at it.

High winds can cause severe damage to your roof and home. Our team has extensive experience in wind damage repairs, particularly after helping our communities recoup after the back-to-back storms in 2024. From identifying obvious issues to uncovering hidden problems, trust our team to restore your roof to its strongest, most secure condition.

Hail can cause serious damage to roofing materials, often creating problems that aren’t immediately visible to the untrained eye. We identify hail damage patterns and address the full extent of the impact with reliable repairs.

When storms bring heavy rains, even minor roof damage can lead to significant water infiltration. We work hard to identify water damage sources, track leak paths, and repair both the root cause and most resulting damage.

Storm-blown or fallen debris can cause serious damage to your roof. Whether it’s fallen branches or other storm-related debris, we’re here to help restore your home to its optimal condition.

Storm Damage? Here’s How We Prioritize Your Roof Repairs

Existing Customers

If you are unsure if your roof has suffered damage we will schedule a detailed roof inspection to assess the health of your roof and provide images and a written quote for any damage that may need to be repaired.

If your roof has suffered minor, nonemergency damage, one of our roofers will come to assess the damage and schedule prompt repairs that align best with your schedule.

If your roof is covered by the Owens Corning Platinum Warranty and has suffered damage within 2 years of installation, please contact our office for prompt roof assessment and necessary repairs.

If your roof is covered by any other Owens Corning non-platinum warranty, you can submit a warranty claim through Owens Corning.

New Customers

For new customers we will need to provide a roof inspection of the roof to determine the current health status of the roof.

If your roof has suffered minor, nonemergency damage we will schedule an appointment for one of our local roofers to assess the damage and provide the necessary repairs. If the damage is extensive, repairs and inspection may not be done on the same day.

If your roof has suffered emergency damage, we will schedule prompt service to address any issues to ensure that the roof is restored to optimal condition.

The Dangers of Ignoring Storm Damage

Delaying storm damage repairs can lead to cascading problems that threaten your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. As one of Central Florida’s leading roofing companies, we’ve witnessed firsthand how minor storm damage can escalate into devastating problems when left unaddressed.

Immediate risks of ignoring storm damage include:

  • Structural Deterioration: Water infiltration through storm-damaged areas can weaken roof decking, trusses, and support beams. For example, a fallen tree branch can create holes in your roofing system, allowing water to infiltrate and compromise your roof’s structural integrity.
  • Interior Water Damage: Even small leaks from storm damage can lead to significant water damage in your ceilings, walls, and insulation. Sometimes this is caused by human installation error (that our team will fix) or when the roof is open during repairs.
  • Higher Energy Bills: Storm damage often compromises your roof’s insulation effectiveness. When holes are created in roofing systems, attic insulation can be affected.
  • Property Value Decline: Unaddressed storm damage can significantly impact your home’s market value. By addressing issues promptly you can preserve your home’s value.

Long-term consequences of delayed storm damage repairs include:

  • Health Risks: Persistent moisture from roof leaks creates an ideal environment for toxic mold growth.
  • Insurance Claim Complications: Many insurance policies require prompt reporting and repair of storm damage. Our team is here to guide you through the process, helping to eliminate unneeded stress and bring stability to your home when it is needed most.
  • Compounding Repair Costs: What might start as a simple repair can quickly escalate into a complete roof replacement if left unattended.
  • Structural Failure Risk: In extreme cases, neglected storm damage can lead to catastrophic roof failure, particularly during subsequent storms. If our team discovers structural failure damage, we recommend having a general contractor resolve the issues before any roofing solutions to ensure the safety of your home and our roofers.

As a trusted roofing company, we strongly recommend immediately scheduling a storm damage assessment and repairs. Our experienced roofers will quickly evaluate the extent of storm damage and implement necessary repairs.

Remember, when it comes to storm damage, EARLY intervention is always more cost-effective than emergency repairs.

Learn More About Protecting Your Roof

FAQ

The best time to perform a roof replacement is during the winter or spring. During these seasons, our teams of roofing contractors typically have more availability, allowing for quicker scheduling and completion of your project.

It’s important to inspect your roof as soon as it’s safe to do so after a storm. Without climbing on your roof, you can look for visible damage like missing shingles, dents, or leaks. However, for a thorough and professional roof inspection, contact Westfall Roofing to identify hidden damage and provide a detailed evaluation.

In most cases, homeowner’s insurance policies cover storm damage, including damage from wind, hail, or fallen trees. However, coverage depends on your specific policy and the cause of the damage. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your coverage.

While you can take temporary measures like tarping damaged areas to prevent further water intrusion, it’s best to leave permanent repairs to professionals. DIY repairs can be dangerous and may not fully address the issue, leading to more extensive damage over time. Contact Westfall Roofing for safe and effective repairs.

The timeline for a roof replacement depends on the extent of the damage, the size of your roof, and weather conditions. On average, a full roof replacement can take 1-3 days. However, scheduling may vary depending on availability and material delivery times. During large storms, scheduling will vary due to the volume of calls and projects we are helping to resolve.
