At Westfall Roofing, we love roofs. But there is something we love even more: our clients and our community. From the beginning, our company promised to protect our communities by providing reliable, detailed services. We want every customer and community member to feel safe and secure in their home.
In 2022, we’re proud to have participated in several community and non-profit roofing projects. Each of these projects was a chance to give back, support those who support us, and set an example of generosity. Below, take a closer look at some of our favorite roofing projects and collaborations from 2022.
Robert Gruber: The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project
The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a 501(c)(3) charity launched in 2016. This organization supports military veterans and their families by providing and installing new roofs. So far, they have helped 375 US veterans obtain new roofs. Owens Corning partners with contractors throughout the country, and Westfall Roofing is proud to be one of its partners.
In 2022, we had the honor of partnering with Purple Heart Homes and the Owens Corning Roof Deployment project to provide a roof for Robert Gruber, a veteran of the US Air Force. This process started with an estimate. We examined Robert Gruber’s home and roof to determine the level of work that needed to be done. His roof was failing because of poor workmanship. In the following months, we worked out the details with our partners. Owens Corning provided the shingles and components, and Westfall Roofing donated our labor.
Robert’s roof was completed for Veterans Day. We can think of no better way to express our gratitude for Robert’s service to our country. We wish him many years of safety and comfort inside his newly roofed home.
Gary Sinese Foundation
Westfall Roofing is also proud to have partnered with the Gary Sinese Foundation in 2022. This organization provides mortgage-free homes for severely wounded heroes through their Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment (R.I.S.E.) Program.
Through R.I.S.E., the Gary Sinese Foundation has donated multiple homes in the Tampa and Sarasota areas. This year, they built a home for Chief Warrant Officer Romy Carmargo, a US Veteran. The home has been outfitted with the latest smart technology in order to make it accessible and adaptable. Westfall Roofing is proud to have installed the roof on that home.
To celebrate Romy and his new home, a dedication ceremony was held on July 27, 2022. We were honored to be a part of that ceremony and to have the opportunity to thank Romy for his service. We also have to say: the roof looks great! We know it will keep Romy’s home safe and dry for many years to come.
Other Community Work
In past years, we also partnered with Habitat for Humanity. This non-profit housing organization has chapters in all 50 states, and also around the world. They aim to create safe housing for families and individuals in need. They rely on local building and roofing companies to provide labor and facilitate construction efforts. The recipients of these homes help build them, and they pay an affordable mortgage.
Building a home with Habitat for Humanity is an invigorating experience and one we think more people should have. If you’re interested in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, we’d love to tell you more and help you get involved.
The roof is a structure intended to protect the rest of the home. Without a good roof, the rest of the home is exposed and vulnerable. We like to think of our communities in the same way. If we don’t look out for one another, we are all left vulnerable. But, if we work together and support each other, we are all safer and more secure.
For more than 30 years, we have been providing roofs for the people of Tampa Bay and the Sarasota area. In those decades, we have learned a lot – and it has not all been about roofing. We’ve learned how communities lean on each other in times of need. We’ve learned the value of giving back and of supporting one another. And we’ve learned how big of a difference one act of kindness can make in a person’s life. We look forward to continued partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, the Gary Sinese Foundation, and the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project in the New Year.
